What this archive knows about you

In effect 19 July 2026.

The short version

The archive asks you for nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no newsletter, and no record of you kept on any server here. Two third-party services do run on these pages: Google Analytics, so the archivist can see which records are actually read, and Google AdSense, which pays for the hosting. Both use cookies. You can switch both off, and nothing in this archive will stop working or ask you to turn them back on.

What the archive itself stores

One thing, and it never leaves your device: a small marker in your browser's local storage (vestige-seen-version) recording which version of the Ledger you last saw, so the "new since you last read" ribbon can appear only when there is genuinely something new. It holds a version number and nothing else — no identifier, no history, no profile — and it is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data erases it, at no cost but seeing one ribbon again.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (G-XXQY6HP5WL) to understand how the archive is used: which records are opened, roughly where readers arrive from, and what sort of device they read on. Google reports approximate location at country or city level; GA4 does not make full IP addresses available to this site. It exists for one reason — to tell the archivist which records deserve more of the work — and it is never used to identify an individual reader.

You can opt out with your browser's cookie controls, with any tracker-blocking extension, or with Google's officialAnalytics opt-out add-on.

Advertising

This site is supported by passive advertising through Google AdSense (ca-pub-3018286045906965), which Digital Extremes' Content Policy expressly permits for fan sites. Ads pay for hosting; nothing in the archive is ever sold, gated, or placed behind a paywall.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising atGoogle Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising ataboutads.info/choices.

A promise about placement, because the policy that permits these ads requires it and the archive would require it anyway: advertising is kept to passive placements at the edges of a page. It will never be set inside the prose of a record, never interrupt a reading, and never stand between you and something you came here to read.

Hosting

The archive is a static site served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data — IP address, user agent, the page requested — to deliver pages and to protect the site from attack, and reports it back only in aggregate. That data is not used to build a profile of you, and the archivist never sees an individual reader in it.

Embedded and linked things

Recitals are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, which is YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode: no advertising cookie is set until you actually press play. Once you do, YouTube and Google's own terms apply to what follows. Links out to Ko-fi, the wiki, Digital Extremes, or anywhere else leave this archive entirely, and those sites keep their own policies.

If you are in the EEA or the UK

Where consent is legally required before analytics or personalised advertising cookies are set, it is requested through Google's consent mechanism before those cookies are used, and personalised ads are not served without it. You have the right to access, correct, or erase personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. The practical route matters here: this archive holds no personal records of its own to produce or delete, so requests about analytics or advertising data are best directed to Google, which is the controller of it.

Children

The archive is written for an adult audience reading a game's fiction and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Blocking any of it

Said plainly, because this archive would rather be honest than optimised: an ad blocker or a tracker blocker will switch off both the analytics and the advertising on this site, and every record, chronicle entry, recital, and thread of the Weave will work exactly as it did before. Nothing here is gated behind allowing them, and you will never be asked to turn them off.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and the change is entered in theLedger like everything else the archive does.

Contact

The archive is kept by one person. Questions about this policy, or about anything the archive holds, can be sent through the channel.
