The Tau System

Every road in this archive leads out of Tau or toward it. The Zariman Ten Zero sailed for it and found the Void instead. The Sentients were made for it, finished it, and came back changed. The Orokin Empire spent itself reaching for a second system and died of what the reaching made.

Of Tau itself, the honest record is nearly empty: a terraform designate beyond the interstellar dark, remade by machine life into something no report survives to describe. A paradise built by builders who stopped forwarding reports. Every Sentient in the Origin System is, among other things, a letter from Tau that arrived without its contents.

This record is deliberately unfinished. The archive holds no primary source on Tau's present state, and declines to invent one.

But the ledger of arrivals is no longer empty. Albrecht Entrati has reached the Tau System: past the reach of the Tenno, of the Hex, and, for now, of the Indifference. He is the only arrival the record can attest since the Old War closed the road, and he has sent back nothing. The record of the man is held under the Entrati entry. This one is maintained in readiness: when the first true description of Tau enters the public record, it will be entered here within the day, cited to its source. Some entries in an archive exist to store what is known. This one exists to mark the exact shape of what is not known. Yet.

The section above made a promise: when the first true account of Tau entered the public record, it would be entered here. The archive keeps its word, with one correction to its own assumptions. The account did not arrive by ship or by signal. It arrived by memory. Through the Dark Refractory, with Loid and the Lotus holding the line, the Operator recovered a suppressed childhood in Tau itself: Tauron Academy, on the moon Perita, in the years of a peace no modern record remembered.

So the archive now holds an eyewitness Tau: a school, a best friend, Orokin and Sentient sharing classrooms under treaty. The account is real, and it is old. Everything in it predates the Old War, and the memory itself insists that the Tau of the present is not the Tau it shows. The record enters what it has, dates it ten thousand years stale, and leaves the present to the section above.

The recovered memory ends in the present tense, with the Lotus setting a heading: Tau is now in sight. The archive records the words exactly, because they are the hinge of the era. For the first time since the Zariman sailed, Tau is a destination rather than a direction.

What waits there is not entered here, because it is not known. The Lotus herself warns that the Tau ahead will not be the Tau remembered. This record stays deliberately unfinished, exactly as designed. The difference is the quality of the waiting: it used to keep a blank page, and now it keeps a course.

On the eleventh of July, 2026, at TennoLive, the road ended and the destination answered. The archive keeps the account as exactly what it is: a reveal of the chapter to come, named Warframe: Tau, shown by Digital Extremes and launching later in the year. What it is not, yet, is played. The record marks that line and stands on it — but it can finally describe the shape.

The paradise is not what the memory promised. The first sight of Tau is Fornax — a ring city drowned in unending, mind-warping black rain, a Sentient metropolis gone entirely to rot and racket, and the opening region of a second Star Chart laid beyond the Origin System's own. It is ruled from its underbelly by the Hunra: a title, the reveal is careful to say, not a name — the don of the Sentient underworld, holding the city through violence, fear, and Bloom, the addictive substance that is the currency of its power. The Lotus warned that the Tau ahead would not be the Tau remembered. The archive did not expect her to be so exactly, so grimly right.

Into this the Tenno are sent, and not alone. Albrecht Entrati — the one arrival this record could ever attest — is here at the heart of it, tasking a Warframe of his own making: Brysko, a Sentient rebuilt into a frame — a chimera, in the reveal's own word — and brought back for a single purpose, to infiltrate the Hunra's inner circle. Silent to the world and loud within, he narrates a drowned city he cannot speak aloud in.

One more thing was shown, and the archive enters it with its usual caution. The demo opened not in Tau but in memory: a playable Lotus, returned to the hiding of Lua in the Void — the exact hinge this archive files under the Collapse. Detailed accounts report new lore laid into that old moment: a bargain with the Indifference over where the children were hidden. But those beats trace, for now, to a single outlet and a forum, and the archive will not promote a rumor to a record. It marks the shape and holds the gap — the hiding of the Moon may yet prove to have had a second party — and waits for the scene to be shown plainly.

The paradise the Sentients were made to build, found at last as a lawless city under black rain. The archive files the shape of it, and keeps the rest of the promise open until the chapter is in players' hands.
